Dendrites in agate form through a process of mineral deposition. As the agate gets wet, water containing trace amount of minerals seeps into the the stone. Over time, the water evaporates and these minerals infiltrate the gel-like silica, creating intricate, root-like structures that resemble ferns, moss, or other plant forms.
